Section Nine

     "Janey, quite honestly, I think you're missing the point about all this."
     -Why do we always argue? "No, I'm not missing the point. I know exactly what the point is."
     "But the fact is that that kid over there - he's horribly mutilated, and he's obviously malnourished and it's blindingly obvious to anyone - even to these blind beggars - that a few rupees could make all the difference."
     -Stay calm. -Stay calm. "Yes, but that just encourages them. Encourages them in all this mutilation. Encourages them to dig themselves into a pit of their own making."
     "Well, that kid is in a pit, of his own making or not."
     "But dealing with it on the street like this just isn't the way to do it. What we should do is give the money to someone responsible - some proper agency - and let them deal with it."
     "That's just you trying to hide from the sheer physical reality.
     -Including you. "Yeah. Yeah. Sure. Look. I just don't want to talk about it at the moment, OK?">
